Brian Ebersole is set to go to war with Rick Story, which takes place at UFC 167. Both welterweights are looking to get a much-needed win in hopes of moving up the ladder. It should be a great match, as both fighters are well rounded and they are prone to putting on fantastic fights for 15 minutes.
Ebersole is one of the most experienced fighters in the UFC, having a record of 50-15-1. He’s one of the most unorthodox fighters when it comes to the striking portion of the fight, often throwing cartwheel kicks and spinning back-fists. Also, his grappling and Jiu Jitsu game is very solid. Ebersole was rolling in the UFC, but his momentum was derailed when he took on James Head. In the bout, Head was able to control Ebersole on the ground. The loss humbled Ebersole, and he vowed to be a better fighter in his next outing.
Story comes into this fight looking to get a statement-win. He’s been one of the best in the division, but has come up short when it mattered the most. He held his own against the likes of Johny Hendricks, who is going to be fighting for the belt, on the same card, against Georges St. Pierre. Story is one of the strongest fighters in the division, and his forward pressure is hard to deal with for most. He will look to make this a grind-out-fight against Ebersole, and if he gets an impressive win, he puts his name right back in the mix.
It should be an excellent, technical fight, whether it’s played out on the feet or ground. The winner has the chance to get bigger fights in the future, so each will be looking to impose their will early and often.
