UFC Fight Night 32 took place last night in Brazil and featured an exciting card from start to finish. There were nine total finishes on this card from submissions to TKOs. Let’s now take a look and see who the biggest winners and losers from the event were.
Biggest Winners
Vitor Belfort: On the biggest stage in Brazil, Belfort delivered one of his most impressive wins to date. A kick ended Henderson’s night, which has never happened before. It couldn’t have gone any better for Belfort and with the win, he has set himself up for a middleweight title shot against either Chris Weidman or Anderson Silva.
Jeremy Stephens: Stephens landed a sensational head kick that sent Rony Jason out and to the canvas. It was one of Stephens’ biggest wins, and he looked great for his first bout at featherweight. The win makes him a contender in the division, and he’s going to be a tough outing for anyone squared up against him.
Brandon Thatch: Thatch proved to be the superior striker last night against Paul Thiago, getting the submission (tap to strikes) in the very first round. It was a sterling performance, and Thatch is now 2-0 in the welterweight division. He’s one of the best strikers in the division and he certainly has a bright future, especially if he can continue to develop his game.
Biggest Losers
Dan Henderson: This loss for Henderson was his third straight. Even more, it was the first time that he has ever been finished by strikes. Henderson is not getting any younger, so he might need to hang up the gloves. He’s a veteran of the sport, but it’s clear he doesn’t have the ability to compete with the best of them inside the UFC.
Rony Jason: Jason was knocked out in brutal fashion by Stephens, and it was the worse thing that could have happened to him. Stephens dominated him, and Jason will certainly have to regroup and sharpen up his defensive skills when standing.
Daniel Sarafian: Against Cezar Ferreira, Sarafian wasn’t able to really get going. He lost a split decision, and he will have to regroup from this loss and work on his takedown defense as Ferreira was able to have his way with him on the ground. He may even need to consider dropping down to the welterweight division, as he’s at a distinct size disadvantage at middleweight.
