Gray Maynard vs. Nate Diaz Could be Fight of the Year

Gray Maynard

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Both Nate Diaz and Gray Maynard are amazing fighters. Both have fought for title shots, and both are coming off devastating knockout losses. That means both of these guys are motivated and angry. This fight could turn into a war.

What I love most about this fight is that both of these guys have fallen in love with their hands. Diaz has taken his boxing to another level and is now a huge fan of just getting his hands on you. Maynard realized that he has some serious power in both hands and loves to go head-hunting.

This matchup is also exciting on the ground too. Diaz is extremely slick off of his back and is constantly looking for sweeps and submissions. Maynard is an excellent wrestler and loves to try and beat people up when he has them on their back. This means that no matter where this fight goes, someone is going to be attacking at all times.

Another thing to look for in this fight is cardio. Diaz is known for having amazing cardio and has gone five rounds before, even though he was taking a beating while doing it. Maynard has gone five rounds twice and started to fade in the championship rounds; maybe he worked on pacing himself for this fight.

When it comes down to it, we have two fighters who need to get back on track. They both love to strike and are complete opposites on the ground, so no matter where this fight goes, someone is going to be in trouble and someone is going to be attacking. It seems like non-stop action is on the menu for this Saturday’s card, and I cannot wait to see it.

Dana White Doesn’t Think Conor McGregor Can Beat Rafael dos Anjos

Things are getting interesting ahead of UFC 196. The headlining fight at that March 5 pay-per-view event will see UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor move up to lightweight to face the champion of that division Rafael dos Anjos. If McGregor succeeds he will become the first UFC fighter to hold belts in two different divisions simultaneously. The oddsmakers have McGregor as the favorite ahead of the fight. UFC president Dana White doesn’t necessarily hold the same opinion.

Ronda Rousey’s Mom Predicted Holly Holm Would Knock Her Out

Dr. AnnMaria De Mars is the first woman ever to win a gold medal at the World Judo Championship doing so in 1984. She is also the mother of former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. Further she may be the most vocal critic of Rousey’s coach Edmond Tarverdyan. Appearing on Submission Radio De Mars once again spoke out on Tarverdyan commenting on Rousey’s loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193. “I predicted it in advance Ronda trained with an idiot and a fraud” said De Mars.
