An important, exciting addition to the UFC welterweight roster is Tarec Saffiedine. He is coming into this UFC with an impressive record of 14-3. Tarec is the last-ever welterweight champion under the Strikeforce banner, and he will be looking to make an impact in the UFC.

His latest performance was quite impressive, as he was able to dominate Nate Marquardt with leg kicks in each round to win a decision. It was a dominant win for Tarec, showing he could compete with the best of them at welterweight. He is currently scheduled to face Jake Ellenberger, a bout that will be his biggest to date.

Ellenberger is coming off a deflating loss to Rory MacDonald earlier in the year, so he will be fighting with a sense of urgency. On paper, this bout is a great fight for Saffiedine. He has underrated takedown defense, so he will more than likely be able to keep the fight standing against Ellenberger.

Saffiedine has shown some real improvement on the feet, particularly with his kicking game. This may be the perfect strategy to take against Ellenberger, who has shown to slow down if he can finish inside the first round. If Saffiedine is able to get the victory, he sets himself up for bigger fights in the future.

The bout is set to go down for UFC Fight Night 34, which takes place on January 4, 2013. It should be a great main event where a lot is on the line for both fighters. So, will Tarec keep his winning streak alive in hopes of fighting for a title?
