It appears a UFC lightweight bout is in the works between Rafael Dos Anjos and Rustam Khabilov. The bout is expected to take place February 22, 2013 for UFC 170. Both fighters sport an impressive win streak, and a win over each other would be huge for their careers. In fact, if they can get an impressive win, they may be a couple of wins away from a title shot — or maybe less.

Dos Anjos is currently the sixth-ranked lightweight in the division. He’s on a five-fight winning streak, which is a credit to his improved striking and grappling techniques. In his latest win, he was able to outpoint Donald Cerrone on the feet for three straight rounds. It was an impressive win, proving he’s one of the elite fighters in the lightweight division.

Khabilov comes into this fight with a lot of momentum as well. He sports an overall record of 17-1, and he is now 3-0 inside the UFC. Khabilov had a breakout performance against Jorge Masvidal where he was able to stun Masvidal several times in the fight. He ended up winning a decision, proving he has what it takes to compete with the best of them in the division.

Both fighters will be vying for a chance to crack the top-five in the division, and it’s going to be an interesting stylistic matchup. Dos Anjos is known for his standup and jiu-jitsu skills, where Khabilov likes to use unorthodox striking and relentless Judo throws. It should be a fun one from start to finish, where the winner cements their status as a top contender for the title.
