UFC: Diego Sanchez-Conor McGregor Fighting At Welterweight?
The atmosphere in the Twittersphere is boiling right now! At least it is in the lives of Conor McGregor and Diego Sanchez. Those two fighters have been going at it, trading verbal punches and insults until talk finally came to action. Rumor has it that the two have agreed to meet at welterweight and will fight.
Christmas came early, people! No matter how this turns out, the hype factor is all ready skyrocketing, and I can only imagine it getting bigger and bigger. Now that I got that off my chest, I am going to have to give an unpopular opinion: McGregor is out of his mind for doing this.
McGregor is in no way, shape or form prepared for this type of fight. I am sure that in McGregor mind, he is … but he is not. The publicity that is going to go into this fight is going to be unbelievable. Sanchez has the experience of getting in a full training camp and dealing with the media, McGregor probably thinks h can handle it, but thinking and doing are two different things.
Secondly, Sanchez has been to war many times, and McGregor has not. This is probably the biggest reason why McGregor is not ready for this.
Sanchez has been in some of the craziest fights that have ever gone down. Just reference his Wikipedia page and just stare in awe at the “Fight of the Night” bonuses. McGregor, on the other hand, has fought twice in the UFC, and wasn’t pushed in either contest. McGregor has never punched someone as hard as he can, then see that same person come back twice as strong.
I will be coming up with a more in-depth analysis when this fight gets closer, but let those two points marinate and let me know who you think is going to take this one.
