It appears that Scott Jorgensen has found a replacement opponent for his fight at UFC on Fox 9. Instead of fighting Ian McCall for his first flyweight fight, Jorgensen will take on Bellator vet Zach Makovsky. This is a great fight for UFC on Fox 9, and the winner instantly becomes a viable contender for the title held by Demetrious Johnson.
This will be Jorgensen’s first flyweight fight in the UFC. Scott has always been an exciting bantamweight fighter who has fought some of the best in the UFC. He’s gone to war with the likes of Dominick Cruz, Urijah Faber and Eddie Wineland. Scott packs a lot of power in his punches, and he’s got a deadly guillotine. It’s going to be interesting to see how he fares at flyweight, where he should have a decisive strength and size advantage over his opponents.
This will be Makovsky’s first UFC fight, and he’s hoping to prove he can compete with the best of them at flyweight. He is the former Bellator bantamweight champ who sports an overall record of 16-4. Since moving down to flyweight, he’s on a two-fight winning streak. He’s an incredible wrestler, and he will look to tap into these skills when he squares off with Jorgensen.
The flyweight division is probably one of the thinnest divisions in the UFC, in terms of depth, so a win for either of these fighters would bump them up the rankings quickly. Who knows, the winner could even fight for a title if they can make a statement.
