UFC Fight Night 33 featured an exciting light heavyweight bout tonight between Anthony Perosh and Ryan Bader. Both fighters threw down tonight, but it was Bader who proved to be the superior fighter. Each round, he dominated the ground battle. He would land some heavy shots that rocked Perosh standing, and it was much of the same on the ground.

It was a dominant win for Bader, who gets his name back in the win column. The judges gave him a unanimous decision, and Bader looked really great tonight on the ground. Bader has always had power in his hands, but sometimes was too content to stay on the feet. He payed dearly in his bout with Glover Teixeira, but it seems Bader has learned from his mistakes.

He’s now 16-4 in his fighting career, and he was never really in danger at any point in his fight with Perosh. For Perosh, he just seemed outmatched in this bout. Perosh is a great jiu jitsu fighter, but any attempt at a submission was thwarted by Bader. He will need to revamp some things in terms of his takedown defense, especially if he ever wants to climb back up the rankings.

For Bader, he was in control the entire time in the fight, never really letting Perosh get anything going on the ground. A great opponent for him would be against Phil Davis. Both are great wrestlers, and their hands have made marked improvements.
