The only reason that I am writing this is because Matt Brown vs. Carlos Condit was scratched off of the FOX card. That was a heartbreaker; the fight was all but guaranteed to be in for some sort of post-fight bonus. Since the no. 1 contender for the Fight of the Night bonus is off the table, here are my two picks for the awesome bonus.
Urijah Faber vs. Michael McDonald: It is like the old guard is now meeting the new hot-shot. McDonald is a guy that many people are already calling a future champion; besides the champion, McDonald has destroyed every opponent he has faced in the Octagon. It also seems that every time we see him, he brings another great part of his game into the limelight.
Faber, on the other hand, has been on a tear lately. If he wins this fight, he could definitely find himself in another title shot situation simply because there is no one left for him to fight.
Joe Lauzon vs. Mac Danzig: This might seems odd because Danzig tends to avoid brawls, but Joe Lauzon, in my opinion, is the people’s champion of the UFC. Lauzon is an amazing finisher and hardly finds himself in a fight that is not exciting. Danzig and Lauzon or both pretty even on the feet; both have the ability to rock the other and could set up for what will be a war on the ground.
Danzig has excellent defense on the ground, and that is where Lauzon is most active. I predict an amazing grappling exhibit that will end with Lauzon submitting Danzig, but it will be a nail-biter with plenty of transitions and near-finishes.
