An exciting welterweight bout is in the works between Mike Pyle and T.J. Waldburger. Both are coming off some emphatic losses, so they will be looking to get their name back in the win column. This bout is scheduled to go down at UFC 170, and was confirmed by the UFC News Twitter page.
This is a pivotal bout for both men at this point in their career. One more loss for either may spell the end for their career with the UFC, so they will be fighting with a sense of desperation when they square off inside the cage. Coming into this bout, Pyle is looking to get some momentum back, having won four straight before suffering a TKO loss to Matt Brown in round one.
Before his loss to Brown, Pyle showed some improved stand up, and it seemed like things were firing on all cylinders for him. He will be looking to show he still has what it takes to compete with the elite in the welterweight division.
Waldburger comes into this bout off a KO loss to Adlan Amagov. It was one of Waldburger’s most devastating losses in his UFC tenure, and it’s going to be interesting to see if he can rebound going up against a vet like Pyle. Waldburger is one of the best jiu-jitsu practitioners in the welterweight division, but he has fell in love with his striking as of late. If he wants to be more competitive, he may need to revert back to his grappling ways.
It should be a great welterweight bout for the fans, and the winner will get some momentum back in his career.
