UFC: Is Chris Leben Facing His Last Fight?
Chris Leben has been a part of some of the best fights in UFC history. Instead of running down all of the amazing slug-fests and wars that he has been through, just know that Leben is a fan favorite for a reason, and that reasons is probably because the man is a modern-day gladiator.
When Leben gets in the Octagon, the fans know that he will leave everything in there. A true meat-and-potatoes fighter, Leben is best in a brawl. He has an iron chin and the heart to sustain inhuman punishment.
As amazing as Leben’s fighting career has been, he has fallen on hard times as of late. He has not won a fight since 2011 and is on a three-fight skid. That pink slip would have been issued long ago if he was any other fighter, but Dana White has stated that he always has a soft spot for Leben and is giving him one more chance.
The only problem with that chance is that it is against Uriah Hall. Hall was praised as the next big thing on the Ultimate Fighter, but has yet to win a fight in the UFC. On paper, it would seem that this is Hall’s fight to lose. He is practically better than Leben in every aspect of MMA except two. Hall has an untested chin, which will defiantly be put on trial during this fight with Leben. We have also seen that Hall is not comfortable in the Octagon yet.
This is a big factor for Leben to exploit. Leben has fought when the odds have been stacked against him before, and this always seems to bring out the best in him. I hope that this is true for this fight, because if he loses, we could very well see the last of Leben in the Octagon.
