An amazing heavyweight bout takes place at UFC 168 between Josh Barnett and Travis Browne. Up for grabs is a UFC title shot, so both will be looking to show why they should be considered the No. 1 contender in the division. Each have their own special set of skills, and it’s going to be fun to see who can outmatch the other in hopes of getting a coveted title shot.
Browne looked sensational in his last UFC outing, which was against Alistair Overeem. After getting dominated in the early part of the fight, Browne kept his composure. He would land a sensational upkick which sent Overeem out and to the canvas. The ref stepped in and Browne proved he could battle back from adversity in the bout. Now he faces a stern test in Barnett, who will be looking to prove he can beat the best fighters in the UFC.
Barnett is coming off a dominating victory over Frank Mir. From the opening bell, Barnett was all over Mir, who never really was able to recover after getting rocked. Once Mir hit the canvas, Barnett unloaded some unanswered shots, forcing the ref to stop the bout. The win was Barnett’s first UFC victory since 2002. Barnett has been one of the premiere proponents of the catch submission fighting, which utilizes top game wrestling with a mixed bag of submissions. He will be looking to end Browne’s night early in hopes of moving up the heavyweight rankings where Cain Velasquez is the current champion.
It should be a great heavyweight scrap which could end violently as both have finishing abilities standing and on the ground.
