An exciting lightweight bout took place at UFC 168, between elite grapplers Jim Miller and Fabricio Camoes. Both of these fighters needed a win, as a loss would surely prevent them from fighting for a title, which is currently being held by Anthony Pettis. This fight certainly lived up to the expectations.

Early, Camoes was landing good shots on Miller, but it was Miller who was able to lock up a brutal armbar, forcing Camoes to tap in the first round. This is a huge feather in Miller’s cap, because he tapped out Camoes, who is a dangerous jiu jitsu black belt and even went the distance with Anderson Silva in a bare knuckle fight. This win was huge for Miller, because he was coming off a deflating loss to Pat Healy, which was later overturned due to a failed Healy drug test for marijuana.

Now, Miller reasserts himself into the lightweight division, and it’s going to be interesting to see where he goes from this point in his career. As far as potential opponents for him next, a great bout would be against Michael Johnson. Johnson was also victorious at UFC 168 against Gleison Tibau, where he was able to get a devastating KO in the second round. Both of these lightweights are some of the best in the division, and they would surely put on an exciting fight for the fans, whether it plays out on the feet or ground.

Miller’s win over Camoes this weekend proved he still has a lot to prove, and is no way done with improving his skill set. And who knows, maybe he can get some wins together in hopes of making a run to the title.
