UFC 170: Erik Koch vs. Rafaello Oliveira Booked

Erik Koch UFC

Benny Sieu-USA Today Sports

A great lightweight bout has been added to UFC 170 between dynamic strikers Erik Koch and Rafaello Oliveira. Both fighters are in need of a win and if they can get an impressive victory, they will be right up there with the best of them in the lightweight division.

This will be Koch’s first fight in the lightweight division. He decided to move up after fighting in the featherweight division because he hasn’t had much success as of late. He is currently on a two-fight loosing streak, and one more may spell the end of his UFC career.

This seems to have lit a fire under Koch, who believes he will have better success at lightweight, a division that is packed full of elite wrestlers and strikers such as Anthony Pettis, Benson Henderson and T.J. Grant. Koch has always been a dynamic striker, and it’s going to be interesting to see how he fares in a heavier weight class.

Oliveira will be looking to score the upset, and a win over Koch would be a huge feather in his cap. Oliveira sports an overall record of 15-6. His latest UFC outing, which was in the lightweight division, didn’t quite go his way. Edson Barboza was able to land some devastating kicks which left Oliveira unable to continue after the first round. He will be looking to prove that he has what it takes to compete with the elite, and a win over Koch certainly proves that.

This fight should be great as both fighters have competent striking techniques. So will Koch get back to his winning ways, or will Oliveira score the upset?

Dana White Doesn’t Think Conor McGregor Can Beat Rafael dos Anjos

Things are getting interesting ahead of UFC 196. The headlining fight at that March 5 pay-per-view event will see UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor move up to lightweight to face the champion of that division Rafael dos Anjos. If McGregor succeeds he will become the first UFC fighter to hold belts in two different divisions simultaneously. The oddsmakers have McGregor as the favorite ahead of the fight. UFC president Dana White doesn’t necessarily hold the same opinion.

Further she may be the most vocal critic of Rousey’s coach Edmond Tarverdyan. Appearing on Submission Radio De Mars once again spoke out on Tarverdyan commenting on Rousey’s loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193. “I predicted it in advance Ronda trained with an idiot and a fraud” said De Mars.
