It appears former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz has gotten into some trouble again. Apparently, Ortiz was driving his Porsche and crashed it late last night. Officers then gave him a DUI according to TMZ. It was reported that he blew a 0.12 on his breathalyzer test, which is over the limit of 0.08.
This is devastating new for Ortiz, who should have never gotten behind the wheel of his car after having alcohol in his system. He is out of jail as of now, but his image and brand will certainly take a hit if it hasn’t already over the past couple of years. Ortiz was released earlier this morning with a bond of $15,000.
Ortiz is currently signed to fight under the Bellator promotion, but this incident could hinder him from ever competing. It’s going to be interesting to see what Bellator president Bjorn Rebney decides to do on this matter, as Ortiz will surely have to face the consequences of his actions. Not only did he jeopardize his fighting career with Bellator, but he put his life and two other lives in danger.
Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident. Hopefully, he will never do something like this again, as it could have cost him in the end. Ortiz was scheduled to face Rampage Jackson, which would have been a huge bout for the promotion. An injury forced him out of the fight, and this recent DUI charge is only making things more difficult for him. He needs to get his head straight and take his career seriously.
