Even though he hasn’t stepped inside the octagon in over two years, Brock Lesnar‘s name is still very much linked to the UFC. Fans still talk about the possibility of a Lesnar return, even though it may only be fantasy. But lately, talks of a return have actually picked up some real steam. Lesnar has reportedly met with UFC president Dana White about a return to the octagon, but to this point, no one truly knows what’s going on behind the scenes.

There are a couple of hurdles to a Lesnar-UFC return. Firstly, he’s under contract with WWE. Secondly, he retired from MMA in 2011 for medical reasons. But despite those two factors, I don’t think the thought of a UFC return is all that crazy.

Is a UFC return legally possible? And is it physically possible for Lesnar? Those are the main questions on everyone’s mind. I’ve seen reports that state Lesnar is allowed to fight once in UFC while under WWE contract. On top of that, I think he easily has enough left in him for one more fight.

From WWE’s point of view, I don’t know why they would have a problem with the Beast going back to UFC. He only works limited dates for WWE, usually about three PPV matches per year and several Monday Night Raws. On top of that, it would actually drive up Lesnar’s stock and probably gain WWE more viewers down the road.

By all accounts he’s under contract with WWE until April 2015. However, once Wrestlemania 30 is in the rearview, he’s likely going to be free for several months. Could Lesnar eye a UFC return for one fight sometime between April 2014 – December 2014? I think it’s very possible, and it would no doubt benefit both brands.
