Bellator Makes Smart Move By Putting Michael Chandler vs. Eddie Alvarez 3 On Pay-Per-View
Bellator is arguably one of the best promotions, save for the UFC, for MMA, and it appears they are about to make a huge bout to be put on pay per view. Their basic model has been putting on tournament fights which air on Spike TV. This is a good format as it gives them a chance to reach a lot of viewers since all of their fights are free.
Now it seems like they are getting ready to take their fights to pay-per-view in hopes of expanding their business model. Among all of the fights that will be on their first pay-per-view card, the most exciting and meaningful has to be Michael Chandler vs. Eddie Alvarez 3. This trilogy fight has the chance to be Fight-Of-The-Year after the first two fights were instant classics.
Chandler ended up winning the first one by way of submission, and Alvarez evened it up in the rematch by getting the split decision victory. Both of these fights were the best fights ever put on in Bellator, and Bellator is hoping to ride this momentum into pay-per-view.
Now that both have a win over each other they will be looking to prove who the superior fighter is once and for all. For Chandler, he’s looking to prove that the rematch was a fluke. He believes he’s the best lightweight fighter, not only in Bellator, but in MMA altogether. Alvarez believes he’s still an elite lightweight, and he proved this in the rematch. The third fight could go either way, and that’s why it’s so intriguing.
