The UFC‘s heavyweight division is one of the most exciting. It’s full of elite strikers and grapplers, all of whom have the power to knock out any opponent on any given night. This is what makes it so exciting. Velasquez is the current champion, and he’s in need of some worthy challengers since he’s dominated Junior Dos Santos two times in a row now.

It appears he will fight a worthy challenger in his next bout as he will be taking on the winner of the Fabricio Werdum vs. Travis Browne match-up. This heavyweight bout was confirmed by UFC officials today which takes place on the UFC on Fox 11 card. This card is shaping up to be a good one, and it’s going to be an amazing heavyweight bout where both fighters will vying for a shot at Velasquez, one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world today.

Werdum is arguably one of the best grapplers in all of MMA. His jiu jitsu skills were on full display in his bout with Fedor Emelianenko. Werdum was the second fighter to beat Fedor who at that time was considered unbeatable. Werdum shocked the world when Fedor went in for some ground-and-pound only to find himself locked in a deep triangle submission from Werdum. Fedor wasn’t able to get out and was forced to tap. From that point on, everyone started to take Werdum seriously as a heavyweight contender.

Browne has also proved his worth inside the cage. His most recent win was against Josh Barnett where Browne landed some of the most brutal elbows on Barnett while up against the cage. It was the second time that he ended a fight like this, proving he’s dangerous wherever the fight unfolds. Both Browne and Werdum will be looking to score an impressive win, and whoever comes out victorious will present a stern test for Velasquez.
