The UFC has made an amazing lightweight match between Melvin Guillard and Michael Johnson. Guillard was originally supposed to face Ross Pearson in what would have been a rematch after use their first fight ended in controversy.

Guillard went to throw some knees to Pearson, but Pearson had his hands on the ground, making the strikes illegal. Now it seems like Guillard will get a new opponent in Johnson as Pearson has suffered an injury. Johnson and Guillard are targeted to fight at UFC Fight Night 37, and this bout was confirmed by UFC officials yesterday.

This is going to be one thrilling fight, and the UFC made a wise move by booking it. Johnson is a guy who likes to use technical striking in hopes of landing something huge, and that is exactly what Guillard likes to do. These two are some of the most powerful punchers in the division, so it certainly has Knockout-Of-The-Night potential. And if the winner can impress and finish the fight quickly, they instantly become a viable threat to the champ, Anthony Pettis.

Both Guillard and Johnson have had their ups and downs in their UFC tenures. As soon as they get a couple of wins together, they seem to lose when it matters the most. They will be hoping to change this trend in 2014, and this lightweight affair could be one of the best fights of the year. Guillard comes into this fight off a DQ loss to Pearson, so he will be looking to get his name back in the win column. Johnson comes into this fight off an impressive TKO finish over Gleison Tibau, and he will be looking to continue his upward trajectory in the division.
