For as long as most boxing fans can remember, there’s been talk of a ‘dream fight’ between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. But after all these years, talk of the fight isn’t all that exciting anymore. While Mayweather has kept his stock high, there’s no doubt that Pacquiao’s has fallen a couple of notches. However, he did win his last fight and now he’s technically the No. 1 contender for Mayweather’s welterweight belt.

So is the fight that nearly all boxing fans have been clamoring for finally going to happen? Maybe.

The latest rumors indicate that Mayweather vs. Pacquiao could happen as soon as September. In the meantime, Pacquiao is scheduled to face Timothy Bradley on April 12th, while Mayweather is still trying to find an opponent for a May 3rd fight in Las Vegas.

Barring a loss by either boxer in their next fight, it seems that their paths will finally have to cross about seven months from now. That’s of course if they can work out the money, which has always been one of the main reasons we haven’t seen them fight.

The other issue at play is seemingly Mayweather’s willingness to fight Pacquiao. Many have speculated that Money simply wanted no part of Pacquiao in his prime. But now that he’s on the other side of his career, it appears that Money is more open to the idea of the two icons throwing down.

Is it disappointing that it’s taken so long to get to this point? Absolutely. But will the time spent to get here really have a great impact on interest in the fight and PPV buys? I doubt it.
