One of the most popular fighters in MMA right now is Ronda Rousey. Rousey is the current bantamweight champ of the UFC, and she is taking the world by storm. She is currently undefeated in her career, and all of her wins have come by the same move, the armbar.
She has dominated fighters, such as Liz Carmouche, Miesha Tate and Sarah Kaufman, and it seems like she is only getting better with each fight. She is currently set to take on Sara McMann at UFC 171, which will be one of her toughest challengers thus far in her career. Even though Rousey is set to defend her bantamweight strap in what will be a quick turnaround from her Tate bout, this hasn’t stopped her from landing movie roles left and right.
She’s already stared in some upcoming movies, such as Fast and Furious 7 and The Expendables 3, and now it appears she has signed on to do two more movies, Entourage and Athena Project. It’s amazing to see Rousey take her fame in MMA and translate it to other career opportunities like being an actress.
There have been some criticisms of Rousey for not being solely focused on fighting, but she is blocking out all of the haters. Despite doing movies in between training camps, her abilities inside the ring and her focus have not suffered at all. In fact, Rousey uses these movie deals to motivate herself even more during training. That is the type of champion she is. Even if Rousey gives up fighting all together and transitions over to making movies, it’s her choice and she deserves every opportunity that is coming her way.
