An expected solid card in San Jose lived up to the advance billing at UFC on FOX 12. Robbie Lawler secured a welterweight title rematch by outlasting Matt Brown in a gruelling five-round main event battle. Anthony Johnson and Dennis Bermudez also delivered stellar efforts to secure Performance of the Night bonuses. Here are the top five fights to make in the wake of UFC on FOX 12.

Bobby Green kept his impressive win streak intact with a split-decision verdict over hard-luck veteran Josh Thomson. “King’s” victory over the previously No. 3 ranked Thomson was the biggest triumph of his career and marked his eighth straight win. Green is 4-0 inside the Octagon and deserves the opportunity to meet the winner of the Aug. 23 main event clash at Fight Night 49 between the former champion Benson Henderson and Rafael dos Anjos.

4. Dennis Bermudez vs. Frankie Edgar

Bermudez turned in an outstanding performance by submitting veteran Clay Guida in the second round of their featherweight encounter. ”The Menace” is one of the hottest 145 pound fighters in the promotion with seven consecutive victories and is on the cusp of title contention. A fight against the former lightweight champion and featherweight title challenger would seem a solid matchup. Edgar recently destroyed B.J. Penn at the TUF 19 Finale.

3. Matt Brown vs. Carlos Condit

Brown’s game effort came up short on the judges’ scorecards against the dangerous Lawler. “The Immortal” still remains one of the 170 pound division’s most exciting fighters despite the loss. A fight against the former interim champion is a bout that is worth revisiting. Condit is on the mend from an ACL injury suffered against Tyron Woodley at UFC 171. The two were due to meet at UFC on FOX 9 only to see Brown withdraw due to a back injury.

2. Anthony Johnson vs. Alexander Gustafsson

Johnson continued to shine in his second UFC stint as he blasted out veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in just 44 seconds. It was his 12th career knockout in 18 career victories and inched him closer to a title shot. A matchup against Gustafsson would be a tremendously explosive affair that would produce a future 205 pound title challenger. “The Mauler” was forced out of a title rematch at UFC 178 against Jon Jones due to a knee injury.

1. Robbie Lawler vs. Johny Hendricks 2

“Ruthless” lived up to his billing by out striking Brown in a solid five-round battle in San Jose. Lawler is now 5-1 in his second UFC stint and has shown that he remains a legitimate threat to Hendricks’ crown. The two first squared off in a Fight of the Year candidate at UFC 171, with Hendricks capturing the vacant title by unanimous decision. Their first encounter was a spirited slugfest, and the rematch likely won't disappoint.
