Rory ‘Ares’ MacDonald is on a three-fight win-streak and has taken out all top welterweight contenders. Still, at the young age of 25, MacDonald has been in the UFC since 2010 and has nine UFC wins with only two losses. On his arrival into the UFC, he was thrown straight into the deep end with his second fight against Carlos Condit and his third fight against Nate Diaz.

A young MacDonald has an outstanding MMA record of 18 wins and only two losses. His wins include seven knockouts, six submissions and five going down to decision. Among these wins he has gained two fight of the night awards and one performance of the night award. He holds notable victories over many top welterweights in the world including Diaz, B.J. Penn, Jake Ellenberger, Demian Maia, Tyron Woodley and after last night Tarec Saffiedine. His two MMA losses have both been unfortunate as he was TKO’d in the final seconds of his bout with Condit despite dominating the fight and he recently lost to title challenger Robbie Lawler by a very narrow split decision.

MacDonald training at the prestigious Tristar gym had previously lived in the shadows of UFC champion and legend Georges St-Pierre. But now, being their main focus, he has the opportunity to further develop his skills as much as possible. MacDonald already has the tools to beat current welterweight champion Johny Hendricks and he is now capable of beating Lawler in a rematch.

Fighting since the age of  sixteen, MacDonald has an exquisite arsenal. He has created a jab that is second to none in the world of MMA and has exceptional jiu-jitsu with punishing take downs and a near perfect take down defense. He is also a very intelligent fighter with the capability of breaking down any fighter and executing a game plan to perfection.

Make sure to see MacDonald fight soon, because he could very well be a UFC welterweight champion in the near future.
