Soa Palelei Makes Case For Top-10 Spot
Soa ‘The Hulk’ Palelei gained a crushing round two TKO victory over Walt Harris at UFC Fight Night 55 in Sydney and bettered his case for a spot among the top 10 UFC heavyweights. Palelei is one of the most exciting heavyweights on the UFC roster and of 22 MMA victories he’s finished everyone, illustrating his desire to finish opponents and put on a show.
The UFC’s top-10 heavyweights includes a handful on losing streaks and a number of fighters debating retirement. This is where Palelei fits in perfectly. Despite being 37 years of age, he still has the fire and tenacity to move forward and knock out opponents. ‘The Hulk’ now holds a mixed martial arts record of 22 wins and only four losses. Spectacularly, his 22 victories include 18 by knockouts and four via submission.
However, the majority of his fights have taken place in Australia, and in order for him to make a statement on the division, he needs to fight bigger named opponents in the United States. There are a few intriguing matchups for him, including bouts with Frank Mir, Ben Rothwell and Roy Nelson. Palelei is an extremely well rounded mixed martial artist with a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, outstanding boxing ability and world class wrestling. With these attributes, combined with his cool demeanor and a well thought game plan, he can finish any opponent in the heavyweight division.
With his impressive win last night and now holding a UFC record of four knockout wins and only one loss coming by a way of decision, Palelei has a bright future with a number of potential world class opponents on his radar. He now thoroughly deserves a spot among the top-10 and holds the opportunity to go on a run for the title.
