Carlos Condit Targets Matt Brown For His 2015 Return
‘The Natural Born Killer’ Carlos Condit is recovering from a torn ACL and a partially torn meniscus and has just started hitting the pads again. Despite being injured he’s still the No. 4 ranked UFC welterweight, Condit is targeting tough challenger Matt Brown in the early parts of 2015. If the bout goes ahead, Condit can prove a huge point and shake up the already stacked welterweight division with a win.
Condit is right in calling out an opponent of Brown’s credentials, in order to show he’s still one of the best welterweights on the planet. Brown was on a seven-fight win streak, including six by knockout. However, his momentum was recently derailed in a No. 1 contenders bout with Robbie Lawler, so a fight with Condit would make complete sense. Victories by either fighter would help their cause to be the No. 1 contender after Rory MacDonald gets his long awaited opportunity.
Condit is one of the most feared and deadly strikers in mixed martial arts today. He has accumulated an MMA record of 29 wins and eight losses. His 29 wins include an outstanding 14 via knockout and 13 via submission with only two going to a decision. His wins illustrate how well diversified he is as a martial artist and shows that he can finish fights in a number of ways. Condit also holds notable victories over Jake Ellenberger, Dan Hardy, Nick Diaz, Martin Kampmann, Dong Hyun Kim and current No. 1 contender MacDonald.
Hopefully, Condit gets what he wants and the UFC makes this fight happen. Not only does it make perfect sense, but it’s a fight all fans worldwide would love to see. Two fighters that do nothing less than finish fights in brutal fashion, and whoever comes out on top in this potential bout would elevate themselves back into the title picture.
