Rory MacDonald has finally been granted his thoroughly deserved opportunity to fight the winner of Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler for the UFC welterweight championship. The bout should happen some time around spring 2015, and MacDonald has many attributes and defining parts of his game that could make him the next champion. Here are the top five reasons why he'll win the title.

Rory MacDonald is on a tear, he's on a three-fight win streak, with his last fight being a devastating round-three TKO victory over Tarec Saffiedine. He has an exceptional UFC record of nine wins and only two losses. With his current run of form, MacDonald will dismantle any opponent placed in front of him.

His fighting style is a main reason why he will be the UFC's welterweight champion in spring 2015. He will have learned from his mistakes in his split-decision loss against Lawler, and will have adapted his game in order to defeat him if the rematch takes place. The use of his jab, high kicks and his exceptional takedown defense should also prove to be too much for current champion Hendricks.

Despite still being only 25 years of age, MacDonald has an MMA record of 18 wins and two losses, with 11 of those 20 fights taking place with the UFC. He has bundles of mixed martial arts experience, yet youth could be a deciding factor in gaining the championship. He is many years younger than both his potential opponents for the belt, but with the same amount of experience showing that he knows what it takes to win.

Rory MacDonald fights out of the prestigious Tristar gym. This environment means he gets to train and spar with world-class athletes, and more importantly with MMA legend and ex-UFC champion Georges St-Pierre for many years. This prestigious coaching and setup will be one of the main reasons why MacDonald will be able to implement his will and game plan in the championship bout and therefore win the title.

The right frame of mind and championship mentality is key to being a champion. Not many people have or can find what it takes to reach the top -- and stay at the top. MacDonald however, with his ever-evolving mixed martial arts, his youth, experience, team and coaches, has the perfect mentality in order to become a champion.
