At last night’s UFC Fight Night in Barueri, Brazil, a special announcement was made, one similar to last week’s CM Punk revealing. Former UFC light heavyweight champion and always exciting, fan favorite Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is set to return to the world’s leading MMA promotion in early-to-mid 2015. Jackson, who had a public fallout with UFC president Dana White, claimed that fighting for Bellator did not feel right, consequently putting their past behind them and penning a new deal.

At 36 years of age, Jackson still has the hunger and appetite to compete with the world’s greatest mixed martial artists and with a number of potential big names awaiting his now immediate return, he could be challenging for the title within the next year. Another UFC championship would add to his already prestigious championship and accomplishments which include Bellator Season 10 light heavyweight tournament winner, UFC light heavyweight champion with one successful title defense and being awarded the 2004 and 2008 Fights of the Year, as well as being named the 2007 Fighter of the Year.

Jackson is a fan favorite due to his stand-in-the-middle and throw-down fighting attitude. he’s been involved in 46 MMA bouts, winning 35 of those which include 16 via knockout, seven via submission and 12 going to a decision. He’s also been involved in a legendary trilogy with Wanderlei Silva along with epic battles with Chuck Liddell.

Rampage now has a highly-anticipated return and already labelled as a legend in the sport, he now has the opportunity to add to such a title. The UFC’s light heavyweight division has been dominated by Jon Jones for many years and subsequently been one of the weakest and less exciting divisions, however, now with an added Rampage Jackson, the division becomes more thrilling.
