Chael Sonnen Brings His Charismatic Personality To 'The Celebrity Apprentice'

Chael Sonnen (aka the “American Gangster” from West Linn, Oregon) is back in the limelight. The former UFC middleweight title contender known for his epic performance against Anderson Silva at UFC 117 will be bringing in his charismatic persona into the boardroom for the reality television show The Celebrity Apprentice.

But unlike previous seasons that had Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump hosting, Sonnen is going to have to prove his business smarts against actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

MMA fans may be only familiar with Sonnen for his quick, witty and, at times, pungent mic skills that mostly revolved inside the octagon. But Sonnen was also a licensed realtor, was a Republican candidate for the 37th district of the Oregon House of Representatives in 2010, owned his own pizza restaurant called Mean Street Pizza in West Linn, was hired as an MMA analyst for ESPN in 2014 and is also part of the broadcast team for the World Series of Fighting. Sonnen was also an inspiring coach on The Ultimate Fighter 17 against then light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

Sonnen has more than fists and wrestling in his repertoire.

With his entertaining personality and business background, Sonnen is a formidable addition to the show. Along with celebrities Jon Lovitz, Boy George, Carrie Keagan, Vince Neil, Laila Ali, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Lisa Leslie and others, they will be tasked with using savvy business skills to win a competition that in the end will win them $250,000, which will be donated to a charity of their choice. The advisors include Warren E. Buffett, Steve Ballmer, Tyra Banks, Jessica Alba and Patrick Mario Knapp Schwarzenegger, Arnold’s nephew.

The airdate for the eighth season of the show has not been confirmed, but it is expected to air on NBC this fall.

Expect Sonnen to be a standout contestant on the show.
