Last week, Irish MMA superstar Conor McGregor sent the UFC world into a frenzy after announcing his retirement on Twitter.

Nobody believed McGregor was truly planning to retire at 27 years old, so it was widely assumed there must have been a rift developing between him and UFC’s brass, particularly president Dana White.

White subsequently did an interview on ESPN and explained he pulled McGregor from UFC 200 — where he was expected to take on Nate Diaz in a rematch — because McGregor skipped a promotional appearance in Las Vegas.

Less than 24 hours later, McGregor took to social media again to explain the thinking behind his actions.
Ok no more games.
I am going to release a statement shortly.— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) April 21, 2016
I am just trying to do my job and fight here. I get paid to fight … https://t.co/xW1P3G2710

And, in typical McGregor fashion, he gave White and Co. an ultimatum.

Early Monday morning, McGregor delighted the masses by announcing he had worked things out with White and UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta. According to McGregor, he was back on the UFC 200 card.
Happy to announce that I am BACK on UFC 200!
Shout out to @danawhite and @lorenzofertitta on getting this one done for the fans. #Respect— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) April 25, 2016
However, not 12 hours after McGregor broke the encouraging news, White released comments of his own to the contrary. According to White, McGregor has not been added back to the card.

White told TMZ,
“It’s not true. We haven’t talked to Conor or his manager since the press conference. I don’t know why he would tweet that.”
He adds,
“All the media keeps asking me that. I feel like the scene in ‘Step Brothers’ when they ask if they can build the bunk beds. I don’t know how many more times I can say the fight is off or how many more press conferences I can have saying the fight is off for people to believe it’s off.”
Man, this is confusing. Sure, the two parties could just be doing this to drum up additional intrigue for the event, but it does seem like they are on two completely different pages.
Stay tuned, folks.
