It was billed as a great all-Mexican bout on Cinco de Mayo weekend, but Canelo Alvarez was the only one who showed up to the one-sided battle.
He totally dominated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. by a 120-108 score from the judges, leaving little doubt as to what his next conquest would be.
And in pro wrestling fashion, Alvarez challenged Gennady Golovkin to a fight when the Kazakhstan national appeared from backstage.
Some theater is what the boxing world needs to keep the sport afloat until the highly-anticipated Floyd Mayweather–Conor McGregor bout materializes – if it ever does.
Perhaps a fight between these two will be enough to do it.
