This is way way way too early to project, but I’m doing this for fun.  I took 32 mini helmets put the helmets in a bag and drew out each team one by one to determine who picks where.

1. Chicago Bears DJ Fluker LT Alabama I know the Bears just drafted Gabe Carimi, but DJ Fluker was 405 pounds at one point.  Fluker is now 340 pounds and has amazing footwork.  DJ Fluker would be a top 5 pick if he declares this year as a sophomore redshirt, but I get the feeling he will return to Alabama for one more year after this year to prove himself.

Chicago can draft Fluker as a blindside and move Carimi to right tackle which is a better fit for Carimi if they pick #1 overall in 2013.

2012 First Round Pick Michael Floyd WR Notre Dame

2. Cincinnati Bengals Tyler Bray QB Tennessee Last year when Bray was coming out of high school I liked a lot of what I read in scouting reports.  I thought Bray could go in the 6th round and be a Tom Brady type quarterback.  Bray was 6 foot 6 190 pounds and is up to 210 pounds this year.  Bray will be 235 by the end of his junior year.  Bray should win a national title for Tennessee in the 2012-2013 season and jump to the pros like Cam Newton did being the top quarterback selected in the 2013 NFL Draft with the recruiting that Tennessee has done.

Cincinnati will take a quarterback in 2013 if there picking this high because the Andy Dalton experiment will be considered an epic fail.

2012 First Round Pick Trent Richardson RB Alabama

3. Jacksonville Jaguars Aaron Murray QB Georgia Aaron Murray was a 5 star recruit out of high school.  Murray will be eligible to declare for the 2012 NFL Draft, but he won’t be a first round pick unless he returns to Georgia for the 2012-2013 season as a junior redshirt.

The Jaguars new regime will take a quarterback if their picking in the top 3 in 2013 as the new regime will realize that Blaine Gabbert is a colossal fail at quarterback.

2012 First Round Pick Quinton Coples LE North Carolina

4. Philadelphia Eagles Sharrif Floyd DT Florida Floyd grew up in Philadelphia and if he Eagles want a hometown prospect and a big defensive lineman Sharrif Floyd is the player they will take at #4.

2012 First Round Pick Ricky Reiff LT Iowa

5. Carolina Panthers Ronald Powell RE Florida Ronald Powell is one of the best defensive ends in the country.  He will be eligible in 2013.

2012 First Round Pick Alshon Jeffery WR South Carolina

6. Kansas City Chiefs Marcus Lattimore RB South Carolina Besides the aging Thomas Jones and the speedy superstar Jamaal Charles the Chiefs have no one in the backfield.  Lattimore has performed like a top 10 pick this season at South Carolina.  Kansas City needs a #2 back for the future and Lattimore is a top prospect available.

2012 First Round Pick Bobbie Massie LT Ole Miss

7. Seattle Seahawks Demarcus Milliner CB Alabama Milliner was the #2 corner at Alabama this year.  When Kirkpatrick is gone Milliner will be the #1 corner in Alabama.

2012 First Round Pick Landry Jones QB Oklahoma

8. Buffalo Bills Pete Thomas QB Colorado State Buffalo will get a quarterback at some point.  Too bad they will draft another captain checkdown.  Pete Thomas is 6 foot 5 235 pounds and will creep up draft boards in 2013 if he performs well.  Thomas has a rocket arm and sounds like the quarterback the Bills would build around if they draft Dre Kirkpatrick in 2012.

2012 First Round Pick Dre Kirkpatrick CB Alabama

9. Pittsburgh Steelers Michael Dyer RB Auburn Rashard Mendenhall’s contract expires in 2013.  Pittsburgh never renews players with issues off the field.  Ben Roethlisberger was the exception because he plays the most important position at quarterback.  Dyer is a top 10 talent and if Pittsburgh is picking here I could see them taking a running back with Dyer’s talent while parting ways with Mendenhall.

2012 First Round Pick Vontaze Burflict 3-4 MLB Arizona State

10. New Orleans Saints Garrett Gilbert QB Texas At this point the Saints are so deep they can take a player to groom for the future behind Brees.  Drew Brees will be 34 in 2013 and the Saints will need a quarterback to groom for the future behind Drew Brees.

2012 First Round Pick They traded their first round pick to New England.

11. Miami Dolpins Isaiah Johnson FS Georgia Tech Isaiah Johnson is the best player available and its not like the Dolphins don’t need an upgrade at free safety.

2012 First Round Pick Matt Barkley QB USC

12. Detroit Lions Tom Savage QB Rutgers If the Lions have a losing record and cannot reach the playoffs by 2013 its apparent that Matthew Stafford cannot stay healthy plus the new regime in Detroit may want his own guy.  I highly doubt Detroit is in this position down the road, but this draft order was randomly determined so I gave the Lions Savage.  If you think this is stupid there is another mock draft saying the Steelers will get a quarterback in 2013 when Roethlisberger goes to federal prison.  That statement is even sillier than the one I made about the Lions getting Savage.

2012 First Round Pick Stephon Gilmore CB South Carolina

13. Oakland Raiders Da Rick Rogers WR Tennessee Think of a physical possession wide receiver with the skill set of a Hines Ward and the speed of a Mike Wallace.  That is exactly what your getting with Da Rick Rogers a 5 star recruit out of high school who got compared to Hines Ward when signing with Tennessee.  Rogers can run a 4.34 40 time and has the physical ability of a Hines Ward receiver along with the soft hands.  Al Davis loves 40 times and this would be a receiver worth drafting with his sick 40 time.  Rogers could work on his route running and jumping, but has a high football IQ so he should figure things out down the road.  Rogers does not have the 6 foot 5 225 pound size, but his learning rate and intangibles compensate for his size.

2012 First Round Pick Robert Griffin QB Baylor

14. San Francisco 49ers Robert Woods WR USC Matt Barkley will have a pair of 5 star recruits at wide receiver to throw to this year.  One of those players who will emerge in 2013 is Robert Woods.

2012 First Round Pick Alphonzo Dennard CB Nebraska

15. Tennessee Titans Justin Jones TE East Carolina Justin Jones is a 6 foot 8 252 pound tight end from East Carolina.  Chris Johnson played for East Carolina and Jake Locker would love to have a tight end for the long run.

2012 First Round Pick Michael Brewster C Ohio State

16. Washington Redskins Morgan Moses LG Virginia Moses is a left tackle, but lacks the footwork to be a left tackle so Moses probably moves to left guard.

2012 First Round Pick Andrew Luck QB Stanford

17. Baltimore Ravens Kevin Pierre Lewis 3-4 MLB Boston College The Ravens will draft a 3-4 middle linebacker to succeed Ray Lewis.

2012 First Round Pick Nate Potter RT Boise State

18. Arizona Cardinals Tyler Eifert TE Notre Dame The Cardinals get a tight end for the long run in Tyler Eifert.

2012 First Round Pick Jonathan Martin LT Stanford

19. Denver Broncos Bernard Pierce RB Temple If Denver does not get a running back in round 1 they may target Bernard Pierce as a first round pick in 2013.  Pierce struggled last year having a sophomore slump and may play at Temple all 4 years just to ensure he’s a first round pick.

2012 First Round Pick Jerel Worthy DT Michigan State

20. New York Giants Bryce Brown RB Kansas State Former Tennessee running back Bryce Brown was one of the top recruits out of high school a few years ago.  I’m not sold on Da Rel Scott as a long term answer so the Giants may target Bryce Brown in 2013 as a first round pick.  Bryce Brown hasn’t done much so far, but if he ends his college career on a high note he could be a first round pick down the road.

2012 First Round Pick Mike Adams LT Ohio State

21. New York Jets Darrell Scott RB South Florida The former Colorado back is now at South Florida.  LT is aging and the Jets will want a second back to pair with Shonn Green down the road.

2012 First Round Pick Baker Steinkuhler 3-4 LE Nebraska

22. Green Bay Packers Craig Coston FS LSU Green Bay can just take the best player available.  That’s how deep and talented the Green Bay Packers are as a team.

2012 First Round Pick Courtney Upshaw 3-4 ROLB Alabama

23. Indianapolis Colts Dwayne Allen TE Clemson Dwayne Allen is the top tight end in 2012, but I expect him to return for his senior year.

2012 First Round Pick Nick Foles QB Arizona

24. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Malcolm Thomas RB UCLA Tampa Bay will want a #2 back to compliment Blount.

2012 First Round Pick Omar Bolden CB Arizona State

25. Minnesota Vikings Malcom Thompson FS McNesse State Thompson is the small school player in college football.  Minnesota needs help at free safety so this pick makes sense.

2012 First Round Pick Matt Kalil LT USC

26. Cleveland Browns Shayne Skov ROLB Stanford Skov is a talented linebacker who could play rush linebacker in the 3-4 or weakside linebacker in the 4-3.  He would be a nice piece to add to Cleveland’s upstart defense.

2012 First Round Picks Brandon Jenkins RE Florida State and Jeff Fuller WR Texas A/M

27. San Diego Chargers Jordan Zumwalt 3-4 MLB UCLA Zumwalt is a good 3-4 middle linebacker who should be a late round pick.

2012 First Round Pick Justin Blackmon WR Oklahoma State

28. Atlanta Falcons Xavier Nixon LT Florida Sam Baker performed poorly at left tackle this year.  His contract is up in 2013 so the Falcons will draft a left tackle if he does not improve within the next few years.

2012 First Round Pick No First Round Pick

29. St. Louis Rams Corey Brown WR Ohio State Corey Brown can play wide receiver or cornerback.  This is a good pick for the Rams because getting a two position player who can play on offense or defense could benefit the Rams down the road.

2012 First Round Pick Keleche Osemele LG Iowa State

30. Houston Texans Marlon Brown WR Georgia The Texans get Marlon Brown and pair him up as a #2 wide receiver next to Andre Johnson.

2012 First Round Pick Janzen Jackson FS Tennessee

31. Dallas Cowboys Kenny Stillis WR Oklahoma Kenny Stillis will become Oklahoma’s top receiver whenever Ryan Broyles heads to the NFL.  Dwayne Harris may be better suited on special teams so Dallas may get a new slot receiver to compliment Austin and Dez Bryant.

2012 First Round Pick Cliff Harris CB Oregon

32. New England Patriots William Gholston 3-4 ROLB Michigan State Gholston could play the right side in the long term while Donte Paige Moss could play the right or the left side just like Cunningham.

2012 First Round Pick Donte Paige Moss 3-4 ROLB North Carolina

7 Rants to “2013 NFL Mock Draft”

  1. Connor P says:

Umm your teams are completely screwed up, Bears #1, Bengals #2? You have got to be kidding

  2. Kev says:

Worst Mock ever, I don’t see Seantrell Henderson, he will be a top 10 based on potential alone, Keenan Allen from CAL is lighting it up and will be a first rounder from 15-20 pick.

  3. Ben says:

Dude every mock I’ve seen you do is absolute crap. I know this was from 4 months ago but this is awful. Andy Dalton an epic failure? You’d have to know nothing about football to not see that this guy is a winner. It is clear you have little to no football knowledge so please stop wasting peoples time

    • Chris Ransom says:

That draft order was projected at random and that was my first 2013 mock draft. I’m also going to guess that was the only mock you read. I was harsh about Dalton and you have every right to contradict what I said about him. Lets take a look at the quarterbacks from the 2010 NFL Draft and what I said about them. Sam Bradford I was down on him. Tim Tebow I loved Tebow and Clausen. I was dead wrong about Clausen. I was down on Newton, Dalton, Gabbert, and Mallett. Newton and Dalton look great so far. Dalton would probably not be as good without AJ Green. I think Dalton gets too much credit and Green doesn’t get enough. Things could change. Gabbert looks like crap. Its year 1 Ben you need to relax and be patient. Don’t be so serious man. I loved Ponder and Jake Locker as starters. This is a 2012 Mock back in June Here’s the link for proof http://www.rantsports.com/mock-draft/2011/06/03/2012-nfl-mock-draft-3-rounds/ For everything I’ve said wrong about a player I’ve probably said 2 or 3 things right about 2-5 different players. I loved AJ Green, Dareus, Patrick Peterson. I said Pouncey would be a pro bowler on Pittsburgh before he was drafted which no one else did. Sure, some of my evaluations may suck like Dalton which explains why the draft is a crapshoot, but I like taking risks and making bold picks. You have given me the impression that you don’t seem to respect that and that’s your loss not mine.

  4. It's a fake! says:

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahaha.

I just love how everyone has thought Andy Dalton would be a complete bust, but look what he has done! so far he has 3,012 yards and 18 Td’s! He should be the Offensive Rookie of the Year!

    • Chris Ransom says:

Much of Dalton’s success is due to AJ Green. I’m not saying Dalton sucks because he’s clearly made all his doubters including myself look like fools. I just feel like Dalton gets too much credit, and Green does not get enough props.
