2013 NFL Draft 3rd Edition

Published: 27th Sep 11 12:13 pm

This mock draft will use the draft order of my best friends predictions for the 2011-2012 regular season.

I also list the 2012 Draft picks for each team from my latest 2012 NFL Mock Draft.

Its way too early to finalize the draft status of these players, but its not too early to look at potential 2013 prospects.

1. Seattle Seahawks Kareem Martin RE North Carolina Kareem Martin managed to beat out Donte Paige-Moss for the starting left end job in Chappell Hill.  Martin will move to right end in 2012 once Quinton Coples graduates.  Kareem Martin weighs in at 6 foot 6 260 pounds right now as a sophomore.  He can add 10 to 15 pounds becoming a true 4-3 defensive end.

2012 Seahawks Draft Picks

Matt Barkley Quarterback USC

David DeCastro Right Guard Stanford

Desmond Trufant Cornerback Washington

2. Cleveland Browns Tyler Bray QB Tennessee If Cleveland picks this high it means Colt McCoy failed to be the face of the Browns franchise.  The Browns will not pass on an opportunity to make Tyler Bray their franchise quarterback if given the opportunity.

During Tyler Bray’s final 5 games as a freshman he threw 325, 323, 232, 354, and 312 passing yards.  In 3 games against Alabama, South Carolina, and North Carolina Bray threw 6 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.

2012 Browns Draft Picks

Mant’i Te’o Right Outside LinebackerNotre Dame

Brandon Jenkins Right End Florida State

Jake Bequette Left End Arkansas

Coryell Judie Cornerback Texas A&M

3. Carolina Panthers Robert Woods WR USC Carolina gets a #1 receiver for Cam Newton to throw to.  Newton has a sophomore slump after having a lack of playmakers despite the defensive improvements.  With a receiver like Robert Woods things could change.

2012 Panthers Draft Picks

Quinton Coples Right End North Carolina

Cliff Harris Cornerback Oregon

4. Buffalo Bills Seantrel Henderson LT Miami FL Buffalo gets a blue chip left tackle to solidify their offensive line.  Kirk Cousins gets a chance to start with Buffalo in 2013 if the Bills end up picking this high in 2013.  I would consider taking Tyler Wilson here, but the Bills also have a need at left tackle that will need to get addressed in the long term.

2012 Bills Draft Picks

Bruce Irvin 3-4 Right Outside Linebacker West Virginia

Ryan Broyles Wide Receiver Oklahoma

Kirk Cousins Quarterback Michigan State

5. Arizona Cardinals DeMarcus Milliner CB Alabama Arizona may trade Dominique Rodgers Cromartie for Kevin Kolb.  If this happens expect Arizona to get a cornerback to compliment Patrick Peterson in the near future.  Arizona will focus on the offensive line in 2012 so if they pick this high in 2013 they should get a cornerback.

2012 Cardinals Draft Picks

Ricky Wagner Left Tackle Wisconsin

Elvis Fisher Right Tackle Missouri

6. Tennessee Titans Xavier Rhodes CB Florida State Xavier Rhodes is a premier coverage corner that could really boost the overall secondary play for the Tennessee Titans.

2012 Titans Draft Picks

Luke Kuechly Middle Linebacker Boston College

Devin Taylor Left End South Carolina

Tony Dye Strong Safety UCLA

7. Minnesota Vikings Jelani Jenkins ROLB Florida The Vikings use this pick to boost their linebacking core.

2012 Vikings Draft Picks

Matt Kalil Left Tackle USC

Mohammed Sanu Wide Receiver Rutgers

Jared Crick Defensive Tackle Nebraska

8. San Diego Chargers Marcus Lattimore RB South Carolina If the Chargers pick 8th overall in 2013 then Norv Turner will be finally out of San Diego and the Chargers will be a very attractive coaching gig assuming that quarterback Phillip Rivers, the Chargers offensive line stays, and an aging veteran defense stay in tact.

Ryan Matthews is injury prone and I am not sold on Mike Tolbert.  Plus there is no guarantee Jordan Todman remains on the team in 2013.

Marcus Lattimore is a top 5 talent in 2013 and he would take a lot of pressure off of Phillip Rivers making this offense balanced just like the Marty ball days in San Diego when Drew Brees handed off the football to Ladainian Tomlinson.

San Diego gave Jerome Clary a 4 year deal at right tackle so I have to believe that San Diego would take Lattimore if they picked 8th overall.

2012 Chargers Draft Picks

Donte Paige Moss 3-4 Right Outside Linebacker North Carolina

Kevin Zeitler Right Guard Wisconsin

Brandon Boykin Cornerback Georgia

9. Denver Broncos Shariff Floyd DT Florida The Broncos need defensive tackle for their roster.  Shariff Floyd would be a good option to boost Denver’s defensive line.

2012 Broncos Draft Picks

Vontaze Burfict Middle Linebacker Arizona State

Casey Heyward Cornerback Vanderbilt

Ryan Lindley Quarterback San Diego State

10. Washington Redskins Michael Dyer RB Auburn Washington could use a running back to open up the running lanes.

2012 Redskins Draft Picks

Landry Jones Quarterback Oklahoma

Juron Criner Wide Receiver Arizona

Jerry Franklin 3-4 Middle Linebacker Arkansas

11. Detroit Lions Xavier Nixon LT Florida The Lions will need to get Matthew Stafford a blindside if they pick this high in 2013.

2012 Lions Draft Picks

Janoris Jenkins Cornerback Northern Alabama

William Vlachos Center Alabama

Sean Spence Right Outside Linebacker Miami FL

12. St. Louis Rams Jake Matthews RT Texas A&M The Rams have needed to replace right tackle Jason Smith for a while.  Matthews could start out at right tackle and potentially slide into left tackle if Roger Saffold struggles.

2o12 Rams Draft Picks

Trent Richardson Running Back Alabama

Jerel Worthy Defensive Tackle Michigan State

Aaron Henry Free Safety Wisconsin

13. Chicago Bears DJ Fluker RT Alabama Gabe Carimi will likely move to left tackle opening up a spot at right tackle.  This may tempt Chicago to draft DJ Fluker.

2012 Bears Draft Picks

Michael Floyd Wide Receiver Notre Dame

Alfonzo Dennard Cornerback Nebraska

Kelechi Osmele Left Guard Iowa State

Ronnell Lewis Left Outside Linebacker Oklahoma

14. Cincinnati Bengals Tyler Wilson QB Arkansas The Bengals new regime will want their guy at quarterback.  Getting Tyler Wilson allows the Bengals to have a quarterback.

2012 Bengals Draft Picks

Dre Kirkpatrick Cornerback Alabama

Marcus Forston Defensive Tackle Miami FL

Jonathan Massaquoi Left End Troy

15. Miami Dolphins Chase Thomas 3-4 LOLB Stanford Miami drafts a pass rusher to compliment Cameron Wake.

2012 Dolphins Draft Picks

Robert Griffin III Quarterback Baylor

Dwayne Allen Tight End Clemson

Kenny Tate FS Maryland

16. Houston Texans Tony Jefferson SS Oklahoma The Texans add a safety who can play the strong safety role.  Tony Jefferson has the ability to blitz quarterbacks at strong safety like Troy Polamalu or Bob Sanders.

2012 Texans Draft Picks

Robert Lester Free Safety Alabama

Alameda Ta’amu Nose Tackle Washington

Ty Hilton Wide Receiver Florida Atlantic

17. Dallas Cowboys Peter Konz C Wisconisn Dallas adds a center to boost their offensive line depth.  Dallas has a hole on the offensive line at center.  They address this issue by adding a center.

2012 Cowboys Draft Picks

Jayron Hosley Cornerback Virginia Tech

Mark Barron Strong Safety Alabama

Nico Johnson 3-4 Left Outside Linebacker Alabama

18. Kansas City Chiefs Tom Wort 3-4 MLB Oklahoma The Kansas City Chiefs could use a 2nd 3-4 middle linebacker.  Tom Wort may be the answer that the Chiefs are looking for with their 3-4 defense.

2012 Chiefs Draft Picks

Andrew Luck Quarterback Stanford

Andrew Datko Left Tackle Florida State

Eddie Whitley Free Safety Virginia Tech

19. Atlanta Falcons Jeremiah Sirles LT Nebraska Sam Baker was a quality pass blocker coming out of USC, but he is upgradable.  Jeremiah Sirles would be the pick here at #19.  I think Atlanta wins Super Bowl 46, but in this mock draft they go from Super Bowl 46 Champion in my 2012 NFL Mock Draft to a team that barely missed out on the playoffs in the 2012-2013 regular season.

2012 Falcons Draft Picks

 Michael Egnew Tight End Missouri

Vince Browne Right End Northwestern

20. Jacksonville Matt Elam FS Florida Matt Elam can play either safety role at strong safety or free safety.  The Jaguars need a free safety so Matt Elam would be a good fit.

2012 Jaguars Draft Picks

Justin Blackmon Wide Receiver Oklahoma State

Andre Branch Right End Clemson

Donnie Fletcher Cornerback Boston College

21. San Francisco 49ers Justin Hunter WR Tennessee Justin Hunter is really managing to step up for Tennessee.  Hunter has obtained 17 receptions for 314 receiving yards along with 2 receiving touchdowns.  Hunter is one of 3 Tennessee receivers that Tyler Bray throws to.  Zach Rogers is Bray’s flanker while Hunter and Da Rick Rodgers

2012 49ers Draft Picks

Chase Minnifield Cornerback Virginia

Billy Winn 3-4 Left End Boise State

Kerry Murphy Nose Tackle Alabama

22. Oakland Raiders Da Rick Rodgers WR Tennessee Da Rick Rodgers was compared to Hines Ward straight out of high school.  Rodgers has the skill set that Hines Ward has as a possession receiver plus he runs a sub 4.4 40 time.  Oakland drafted a Tennessee receiver in the 5th round and in Denarius Moore and he has been phenomenal so far.  Maybe the Raiders hit their luck again with Da Rick Rodgers.

2012 Oakland Raiders Draft Picks

Morris Claiborne Cornerback LSU

Gave up 3rd round pick for Terrell Pryor QB Ohio State in 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft

23. New England Patriots Dominique Easley DT Florida Easley is a 4-3 defensive tackle who weighs 280 pounds and has the size of a 3-4 end.  New England shoudld draft Easley if he is available.

2012 New England Patriots Draft Picks

Alshon Jeffery Wide Receiver South Carolina

Melvin Ingram Right End South Carolina

Michael Brewster Center Ohio State

Omar Bolden Cornerback Arizona State

Delano Howell Strong Safety Stanford

24. Green Bay Packers Montee Ball RB Wisconsin Green Bay drafts a hometown running back for depth on their roster.

2012 Green Bay Packers Draft Picks

Kheeston Randall 3-4 Right End Texas

Shayne Skov 3-4 Right Outside Linebacker Stanford

Rashard Hall Free Safety Clemson

25. Philadelphia Eagles Ronald Powell Right End The Eagles draft the best available player for depth with this pick.

2012 Eagles Draft Picks

Bobbie Massie Right Tackle Ole Miss

Mike Adams Left Tackle Ohio State

Travis Lewis Right Outside Linebacker Oklahoma

Ryan Miller Right Guard Oklahoma

26. Baltimore Ravens Ciante Evans Cornerback Nebraska Baltimore gets a #2 cornerback to compliment Jimmy Smith.

2012 Ravens Draft Picks

Courtney Upshaw 3-4 Middle Linebacker Alabama

TJ McDonald Free Safety USC

Greg Childs Wide Receiver Arkansas

27. New York Giants Tyler Eifert Tight End Notre Dame The Giants draft a tight end in the late first round giving Eli Manning another playmaker to throw to.

2012 Giants Draft Picks

Zach Brown Right Outside Linebacker North Carolina

Brandon Thompson Defensive Tackle Clemson

Dwight Jones Wide Receiver North Carolina

28. New York Jets Morgan Moses RT Virginia The Jets need a right tackle.  Jets left tackle Debrickishaw Ferguson attended Virginia.  The Jets draft another Virgnia alumnus who develops into Ferguson’s bookend.

2012 Jets Draft Picks

Jeff Fuller Wide Receiver Texas A&M

Brandon Lindsey 3-4 Right Outside Pittsburgh

Jerrell Harris 3-4 Left Outside Linebacker Alabama

29. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Kevin Pierre Lewis Right Outside Linebacker Boston College Tampa Bay gets a right outside linebacker to boost their linebacking core.

2012 Buccaneers Draft Picks

Stephon Gilmore Cornerback South Carolina

Chris Polk Running Back Washington

Nate Potter Left Guard Boise State

30. Indianapolis Colts Cameron Meredith RE Nebraska If the Colts pick 30th in 2013 after picking 16th in 2012 it means that Peyton Manning and the Colts had a comeback year reaching the 2013 AFC Championship.

The Colts get a right end for depth.  Now the Colts have depth at both defensive end spots with Jerry Hughes and Cameron Meredith when Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis get older.

2012 Colts Draft Picks

Jonathan Martin Left Tackle Stanford

Nick Foles Quarterback Arizona

Baker Steinkuhler Defensive Tackle Nebraska

31. New Orleans Saints Kevin Pierre-Louis ROLB Boston College If New Orleans picks 31st in 2013  it will mean that they have made history by becoming the first team to host a Super Bowl then play in that Super Bowl.

Kevin Pierre-Louis is a 4-3 outside linebacker who can also play middle linebacker in the 3-4.  He’s exactly what the Saints need since they constantly ignore their 4-3 outside linebacker need.

2012 Saints Draft Picks

Levi Adcock Right Tackle Oklahoma State

Tydreke Powell Defensive Tackle North Carolina

32. Pittsburgh Steelers Lamar Miller RB Miami FL 2013 is a deep running back class.  Marcus Lattimore, Michael Dyer, Montee Ball, Lamar Miller, and Knile Davis could all be first round picks in 2013.  If Oregon running back LaMichael James returns for his senior year then he could be a potential candidate as well.

The Steelers owners may want to part ways with Rashard Mendenhall.  Running backs have short lifespans and Mendenhall has said some dumb things off the field.  If the Steelers do part ways with Mendenhall they have to do it in 2013.  There is no guarantee that they will be in position to draft a legit running back when Mendenhall’s contract expires if they resign him.

2012 Steelers Draft Picks

Riley Reiff Left Tackle

Donta Hightower 3-4 Middle Linebacker Alabama

Josh Chapman Nose Tackle Alabama
