Trevor Bayne will drive a special Wood Brothers Racing, Motorcraft/Quick Lane car honoring the Disable American Veterans (DAV) this Memorial Day weekend at the Coca Cola 600 in Charlotte.
The announcement was made on a press release on the Wood Brothers website on Wednesday. The No. 21 car driven by the 2011 Daytona 500 champion Trevor Bayne will be featuring the special paint scheme where the team will be honoring DAV’s relationship with the Ford Motor Company since 1922. DAV’s logo will be displayed on the sides of the No. 21 Ford Fusion.
In the Wood Brothers press release, the paint scheme is honoring DAV for the weekend as part of the NASCAR Unites-An American Salute program. NASCAR Unites begins this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway leading into the race weekend at Daytona in July.
DAV is a non-profit charity that dedicates its time to make sure injured or disabled military members and their families receive benefits. The charity began in 1920 and continues till this day.
“It’s really an honor for us to run the DAV logo on our car,” said Eddie Wood of the Wood Brothers in the press release. “We’re proud to show our appreciation to our military in any way we can. That’s something that’s important to our family and our race team.”
