Pocono 400 Renamed Pocono 400 Presented By #NASCAR In Order To Increase Twitter Presence

The Pocono 400 will finally be getting spiced up.  Since NASCAR and Twitter decided to partner up, the Pocono 400 is going to be renamed the Pocono 400 presented by #NASCAR.  NASCAR is the first sport to officially partner with Twitter so this is the first race that will deal with all the new stuff.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to be associated with the new partnership between NASCAR and Twitter,” said Pocono Raceway President & CEO, Brandon Igdalsky (@bigdalsky). “Once it was announced the platform would launch during our June race weekend, we immediately began planning the name change. We firmly believe the NASCAR and Twitter partnership will take our industry to a whole new level, and our Raceway is thankful to be the first track to showcase the #NASCAR initiative! Twitter lets every fan experience the thrill of being at Pocono Raceway, even if they can’t be here in person.”

This is the perfect race to start this stuff because the Pocono 400 is typically as boring as NASCAR can get.  I like the fact that they cut it down from 500 miles.  400 is more tolerable but I still find the Pocono 400 to be pretty boring.  The Twitter stuff should spice up the stuff and make it a lot more fun for fans at the track.

I just hope that they do not bombard with stuff about it during the Pocono 400.  I understand that they want to get the fans involved in the action, but keep it off the TV broadcast.  We don’t need to hear about all the Twitter stuff when we are trying to watch racing.
