Bristol Motor Speedway is getting closer to unveil its newest changes as the track holds their first tire test.
Tuesday was the first of a two day testing session at Bristol. Three Sprint Cup drivers went on the track to check out the latest changes on the half mile track according to a release on the track’s webpage. Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer, and Jeff Burton are the only three drivers participating in Goodyear’s tire test in Bristol.
The track has received a couple of changes since the last cup race earlier in the spring. After fan input on the spring race Speedway Motorsports CEO Bruton Smith decided to make changes to the track. There were changes on the progressive banking years after its last change in 2007. Smith decided to make the changes because of the degrees on the track had increased and the style of racing on the short track had changed.
The two day test continues on Wednesday in preparation for the summer night race. The cup series is set to return to the half mile oval in August. Not only will the cup series be returning to the track but so are the Camping World Truck series and the Nationwide series.
The new changes in Bristol will be debuting from August 23-25th.
