Danica Patrick was having a great run during the Sagento 200 at Road America. She was in fourth on the final lap, but she finished 12th after getting spun out by Jacques Villaneuve. He motored on by, while Patrick was left trying to pick up the pieces.
I am disappointed for Danica Patrick. She looked fantastic during this race and was a threat to win at one point. She was solidly in the top ten all day and spent a lot of those laps in the top five. It looked like she was going to cruise home with a fourth place finish.
This stuff is nothing new to Jacques Villaneuve, as he has a history of wrecking drivers on the final lap to pick up spots. He claimed that it was not intentional, but he seemed to run straight into the back of her car as she entered the corner. Pretty bush league if you ask me.
Danica Patrick had a very good interview after the race and she did not blame the other driver for the spin. She said it was basically just racing, which is good for her. She is not getting a lot of respect from fellow drivers out there, but she has to earn it. She took the high road, which should help her in the long run.
Danica looked like she was going to have a great day, but it ended up being just okay. That is fine as she as brighter days ahead.
