Brad Keselowski managed to turn over his weekend into a win from a back up car.
Keselowski won the Saturday night race at Kentucky Speedway after switching over to a back up car in the first cup practice Friday. During Friday’s first practice Keselowski and Juan Pablo Montoya got into each other which caused the No.2 car to go into the wall. In Final Practice the two drivers got into another incident but it appeared to be over by race time.
After grabbing the checkered flag on Saturday night, Keselowski became the first driver this season to win three races. Keselowski passed Denny Hamlin who led during the late portion of the race, to grab the lead with 55 laps remaining.
The win helps Keselowski in the standings and to secure a spot within the chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. With three wins Keselowski secures his spot and currently stands tenth place. With 17 races into the season and nine races prior to the chase Keselowski has posted five top fives and seven top ten finishes this season.
Keselowski’s prior wins this season where at Bristol and Talladega.
