AJ Allmendinger Is Suspended By NASCAR
AJ Allmendinger has been suspended by NASCAR.
It was announced Saturday by NASCAR Raceday on Speed that Allmendinger will miss Saturday night’s race at Daytona. Allmendinger failed a substance abuse test issued by NASCAR. He is temporally suspended from all NASCAR competition.
Allmendinger was randomly selected for a test after the race at Kentucky Speedway. His sample showed that he had violated NASCAR’s substance abuse policy. All though Allmendinger tested positive for a substance, the exact name of it was not revealed by NASCAR.
Allmendinger’s Penske Racing teammate Sam Hornish Jr. will be replacing Allmendinger in the No.22 car. Hornish competed the night before at Daytona for the Nationwide Series race.
Allmedinger has 72 hours to to do another testing. A second sample will be tested and if his second test fails, Allmendinger will be suspended indefinitely.
Penske Racing has not released any further details concerning the No.22 team.
