Sam Hornish Jr Will Fill In For The No.22 Next Two Races
Sam Hornish Jr will continue to fill in for a suspended AJ Allmendinger.
In a statement released by Penske Racing, the team has stated that Hornish will continue to drive the No.22 Dodge Charger for the next two races. Hornish will be competing this weekend at the cup series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and will continue the following week at Pocono Raceway.
Penske mentions in the press release that the team is disappointed in the results of Allmendinger’s B test but the team has not made any official statement relating to the No.22 team or Allmendinger. Penske will be taking a course of action to determine the team’s future with Allmendinger.
Hornish currently races for Penske Racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and used to race in the cup series until Penske shut down the No.77 team at the end of the 2010 season. Since then Hornish did a partial Nationwide season with 2012 being his first full Nationwide season since his cup team was shut down.
This upcoming weekend at Indianapolis Hornish will be doing double duty, racing both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup races.
