Mark Martin Returns At Indianapolis
Mark Martin has been gone for quite some time but he will be returning to his No.55 car this upcoming weekend.
Martin has been inactive in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series due to a partial race schedule. The cup veteran has been on a break since his last race at Michigan but will be returning for the race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The Michael Waltrip Racing No.55 car has been shared this season between Martin, Brian Vickers, and team owner Michael Waltrip. Since Martin’s last race on June 17th, car time has been shared between Vickers and Waltrip with two races each. Prior to the Cup Series off week Vickers was the last of the three to race the car at New Hampshire.
Due to his partial race schedule Martin has 12 races remaining in his 2012 Cup Series schedule. Martin will be returning to race at Indianapolis then at Pocono. Following the race at the tricky triangle Martin will take a week break, race at Michigan where his last race was, then take another break.
Martin will race in the 2012 chase races but not in all of them. He is set to race in seven out of the ten chase races. For the races at New Hampshire and Martinsville, Vickers will take over the No.55 car. Team owner Michael Waltrip will make a chase appearance at Talladega.
Since his four race absence Martin is 28th in the points.
