Joey Coulter Captures First Career Win At Pocono
Joey Coulter made his first visit to victory lane on Saturday at Pocono.
Coulter captured his first career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win at Pocono Raceway after grabbing the lead in the final restart. Heading into the final restart of the race after a crash in turn two better known as the tunnel turn, points leader Timothy Peters was collected in the crash along with Paulie Harraka, Ron Hornaday Jr, and Matt Crafton.
In the final restart Coulter started third and drove to the front to capture the lead and the checkered flag from James Buescher and Nelson Piquet. Crafton and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top five.
The 50 lap Pocono Mountains 125 was led by pole winner Piquet for several laps until a caution in lap 34. Piquet and Todd Bodine were racing for second place until they hit, which sent Bodine into the wall. After his race was cut short Bodine threw his helmet at Piquet’s truck while the trucks drove by during the caution.
Coulter captured his first trucks career win in his 36th career start. He is the ninth different winner in 11 races of the 2012 season. With the win Coulter moves to seventh in the point standings. The win at Pocono also gave Coulter his second top five finish of the season.
Coulter’s teammate Ty Dillion, Parker Kligerman, John Wes Townley, Justin Lofton and Ross Chastain rounded out the top ten.
