Jeff Gordon is now in chase contention with a win at Pocono Raceway.

Gordon was declared the race winner at a rain shorten Pennsylvania 400. The win at Pocono gives Gordon his first win of the season and is now in the final wild card spot in the chase. The race was called after the red flag came out with 62 laps to go. About 98 laps of the race were completed after a 90 minute delay before the start of the race.

Gordon took the lead after the final caution flag came out for an incident involving Matt Kenseth and Denny Hamlin. Jimmie Johnson and Greg Biffle who were up front prior to the caution were also involved but finished 14th and 15th after NASCAR reordered the starting position.

Kyle Busch who had the final wild car spot heading into Pocono hit the wall during lap 19 bringing out the first caution of the day. NASCAR was going to make a competition caution at lap 20 but Busch’s wreck brought out the competition caution one lap earlier.

Dale Earnhardt Jr went in as the Cup points leader but broke a transmission in lap 51 and finished 32nd. Pole winner Juan Pablo Montoya finished 20th. June race winner Joey Logano finished 13th

Kasey Kahne, Martin Truex Jr, Brad Keselowski, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, Carl Edwards Clint Bowyer, Regan Smith and Marcos Ambrose rounded out the top ten.
