Joey Coulter sets new track record at Michigan International Speedway

Joey Coulter and his No 22 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet was the fastest in the first and third NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice.  During qualifying he was able to continue where he left off and set a new track record at Michigan International Speedway for the VFW 200.  His speed was 184.101 MPH beating Nelson Piquet Jr. for the pole by 90/1000 of a second.  Miguel Paludo will start third, Kurt Busch fourth and Ty Dillon starts fifth.  Ty Dillon is the fastest qualifying rookie.  This is Joey’s first Keystone Light Pole.

Joey Coulter won the most recent Camping World Truck Series race at Pocono Raceway.  Joey said, “I’m really excited for Michigan. It’s one of my favorite tracks and we have always run pretty well there.  The whole team is ready to ride this wave of momentum”

35 trucks are entered in the race and all trucks made the field.

Joey Coulter will lead the field to green at Michigan International Speedway, Saturday August 18th at 12:30 PM ET.  The race will be televised on the Speed Channel.
