Ty Dillon made his first visit to victory lane in his NASCAR career Friday night.
Dillon grabbed the checkered flag at the Jeff Foxworthy Grit Chips 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. With six laps to go Dillon made his move to the front when he passed race leader Kyle Busch to capture his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Career win. When the green flag waived in the air for the first lap, Dillon started from the pole.
With his win in Atlanta Dillon became the sixth first time winner in the truck series in 2012. He also became the 12th different winner of the year in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Closing out the top five was a returning Kyle Busch to the truck series, James Buescher, Parker Kligerman, and Aric Almirola.
Truck series points leader and last week’s winner at Bristol Timothy Peters, crossed the finish line in 12th.
After all was said and done in Atlanta, Peters’s points lead has dropped to six points from Buescher in second, and nine points ahead of third place Dillon.
Rounding out the top ten Friday night were Kyle Larson, Joey Coulter, Nelson Piquet Jr., Matt Crafton, and Kurt Busch.
