Joey Logano to sign with Penske

By Chris Creighton

Jim Utter from ThatsRacin.com is reporting that 22 year old Joey Logano will be joining Penske Racing next season.

Joey Logano has been uncertain of his future at Joe Gibbs Racing since it was rumored back in early July that Matt Kenseth was already signed to drive the #20 Home Depot Toyota for the 2013 Sprint Cup season.

Joey has two Sprint Cup victory’s under his belt while driving for JGR and one came this year at Pocono, in June. Logano has never finished above 16th in Cup standings and has yet to make the chase. He goes into Richmond with a chance for the final Wild Card berth if he wins the race.

It is not yet clear if Joey will be driving the #22 Shell next year or a third Penske Racing team. The #22 has been driven by Sam Hornish Jr. since Daytona in July when AJ Allmendinger was vacated from the car after a suspected failed drug test. Sam has high hopes of making it back full time in cup and with manufacturing support from coming FORD, Penske may have hopes of expanding back to 3 teams.
