NASCAR Wives To Have Their Time On The Track At Charlotte

NASCAR wives and girlfriends will have their opportunity to have at it when they hit the track to race in the second annual Better Half Dash.

During the race weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the second annual Better Half Dash will be held featuring the significant others of several drivers from NASCAR’s three divisions. The race was announced in a statement on the Charlotte Motor Speedway webpage and will be taking place October 11 during the weekend of the Bank of America 500.

The 2012 Better Half Dash will feature the women of NASCAR racing in Bandolero race cars that are being provided by U.S. Legend Cars International.

The 2011 winner and defending champion Jacquelyn Butler, David Ragan’s fiancée will return to race against the significant others of drivers. Joining Butler in the second annual race will be NASCAR wives Angie Skinner, Michelle Gilliland, Ashley Allgaier, Kristen Yeley, and Kris Buescher. They are the respective wives of NASCAR drivers Mike Skinner, David Gilliland, Justin Allgaier, J.J Yeley, and James Buescher.

Kurt Busch’s girlfriend Patricia Driscoll and Amy Gordon, wife of NASCAR crew chief Todd Gordon will also take their laps around the track at Charlotte. Joining the race line up include Angie Dillner, wife of SPEED reporter Bob Dillner, as well as SPEED personality and reporter Wendy Venturrini, and Melanie Self, representing the MRO in the Better Half Dash.

The 2012 Better Half Dash will consist of a 25-lap race. A competition caution will be held on lap 15 as well as a final ten-lap shootout for the win. Two attempts at a green-white-checkered finish will be available if it becomes necessary. A qualifying session will be held on October 9.

The race participants will have a crew chief and spotter in their significant other.

Drivers will be racing to support charities such as Motor Racing Outreach MRO) and Speedway Children’s Charities. The winner will receive $10,000 that will be rewarded to the charity or charities of their choice.
