Kevin Harvick paid a visit to victory lane friday night after he captured the checkered flag at Richmond in the NASCAR Natiowide Series.
Friday night Kevin Harvick end a 30 race winless streak in the NASCAR Nationwide Series when he captured the win at the Virgina 529 College Savings 250 at Richmond International Raceway. Harvick who started the night in third, went to the front and led the race on a restart with 17 laps remaining.
Harvick’s win at Richmond is his 38th Nationwide Series career win, ending his 30 race winless streak with his last Nationwide win in 2010.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. crossed the finish lane right behind Harvick in second. Closing out the top five were Kurt Busch, Denny Hamlin, and Michael Annett.
Stenhouse who began the night on the pole and second in the points behind points leader Elliott Sadler. By the end of the night Stenhouse cut Sadler’s lead down to one point. Both drivers had a collision towards the end of the race which sent Sadler to the wall cut the points gap between the two drivers. Sadler ended the night in 12th.
During the race the red flag was brought out for about four minutes after a wreck involving Sam Hornish Jr. Hornish was running in the top ten when he hit the wall. He would finish in 30th at the race’s end, also dropping him to fourth in the points and 50 points behind the leader.
Johanna Long who started the night in eighth ran within the top ten within the earlier laps in the race, even making it into the top five. Long would end the night after the No.70 car went into the garage for repairs.
Closing out the top ten in the Virgina 529 College Savings 250 were Austin Dillon, Ty Dillon, Joe Nemechek, Ryan Blaney, and Darrell Wallace Jr.
