Ricky Stenhouse Jr. To Start From The Pole At Richmond

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will lead the NASCAR Nationwide Series field to the green flag friday at Richmond International Raceway.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr.won the pole for the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 when he led the qualifying session friday with a speed of 122.822 mph in a time of 21.983. Following his win last Saturday night, Stenhouse will start the No.6 car from the front row joined by Austin Dillon in the No.3.

Also starting within the top five are cup regular Kevin Harvick, Sam Hornish Jr., and Travis Pastrana.

Pastrana will be racing in the No.60 of Roush Fenway Racing for Friday’s race, since his commitments in the No.99 car are done for the 2012 season.

Friday’s qualifying session feature a career best starting spot for Johanna Long in the Nationwide Series. Long will start within the top ten in the eighth spot.

NASCAR Nationwide Series points leader Elliott Sadler will start from the 12th position, just outside the top ten.

Making their returns to the Nationwide Series friday night at Richmond are Ty Dillon who will race in the No.51 car, who qualified outside the top ten in 11th. NASCAR K&N Series and Joe Gibbs Racing driver Darrell Wallace Jr. returns to the No.20 car friday night starting in 20th.

During the qualifying session 47 cars attempted to make the race. Joey Gase, David Starr, Morgan Shepherd, and Mike Harmon did not qualify.

Closing out the top ten for the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 are Denny Hamlin, Brian Scott, Long, Mike Bliss, and Justin Allgaier.
