Denny Hamlin Wins Third Pole Of 2012 At Dover
After capturing a win at New Hampshire, Denny Hamlin continues his winning ways and will lead the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series field to the green flag in chase race number three at Dover.
Hamlin won the pole for the AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway in Saturday afternoon’s qualifying session by posting a speed of 139.299 mph in 22.599 seconds. The pole win for Sunday’s race is Hamlin’s third pole of the 2012 Sprint Cup season and his 12th Cup career pole.
Joining Hamlin on the front row will be fellow Toyota Racing teammate Clint Boywer. Bowyer’s Michael Waltrip Racing teammate Martin Truex Jr. will start off third followed by Sam Hornish Jr. and Kyle Busch to close out the top five.
Four 2012 Sprint Cup chasers qualified within the top ten for Sunday’s race, that being Greg Biffle, Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne, and Brad Keselowski. Jimmie Johnson qualified just outside of the top ten in 11th. Matt Kenseth qualified 12th followed by Kevin Harvick 14th, Tony Stewart 24th, and Dale Earnhardt Jr in 25th.
During Satruday’s afternoon qualifying session at the Monster Mile 48 cars qualified. David Stremme, Kelly Bires, Cole Whitt, Mike Bliss and Jason Leffler did not make the race.
Closing out the top ten for the AAA 400 at Dover were Biffle, Gordon, Ryan Newman, Kahne and Keselowski.
