With six races to go in the 2012 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season, Joey Coulter will lead the field to the green flag at Las Vegas.
In Friday night’s trucks qualifying session at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Coulter captured the pole by posting his qualifying laps at 176.632 mph. Coulter’s pole win at Las Vegas is his third pole of the 2012 Trucks Series season, and most of any competitor this year.
Joining Coulter on the front row for Saturday’s race at Las Vegas will by Timothy Peters. David Mayhew, Matt Crafton, and Ty Dillon round out the top five.
Mayhew will be behind the wheel of the No.18 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota as one of the final drivers for the team in 2012.
The race weekend at Las Vegas will also feature the Truck Series debut of extreme sports star Travis Pastrana, who also competed in the NASCAR Nationwide Series on a partial schedule. Pastrana will start of on Saturday.
During Friday’s qualifying session 34 trucks made qualifying laps to make the race.
Closing out the top ten for Saturday’s Smith’s 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway are Brendan Gaughan, Miguel Paludo, Justin Lofton, Grant Enfinger, and Todd Bodine.
Heading into the race Dillon holds the points lead over James Buescher with four points. Peters sits in third with 26 points behind the leader.
